3 Short Films Demonstrate Our Care for Kids in Quinte
With a significant portion of my recent child- and youth-related work being unveiled in October, this is a great moment to step back and realize that 3 recently released short films are connected by the common thread of caring for our young people.
Home Rainbow Youth Centre
The opening line sets the stage: "Objectively the worst time to be a human is being a teen," says Meg Fox, founder of the Home Rainbow Youth Centre. "And it's compounded if you're against the norm." This film, which includes local advocates and resource-providers, offers a sobering view of supporting youth in a small town.
The short film is available here:
Children's Safety Village
Can I drive the jeep around the tiny town? What happens after I dial 911? Are you a real police officer?
So. Many. Questions.
But questions are what it's all about at the Children's Safety Village. Filmed as part of the A1 In The Community Series, this exploratory film lets us see the world as the children see it when they visit this extraordinary facility in Belleville.
St. Leonard's Emergency Youth Shelter
Concentrating their efforts on youth between the ages of 15 and 24, the combined Supported Independent Living and Youth Emergency Housing program operates under the umbrella of St. Leonard’s Community Support, Prevention and Residential Services.
But we can just call them St. Leonard’s.
Also a product of the A1 In The Community Series, this short film introduces us to the newly opened facility that offers a caring and empowering route for youth in difficult circumstances.
